Thanks for the warning ! most people think that herbal supplements are all safe. you only have to look at a few deadly poisonous plants like foxglove to know this is not true. Every so often I see people who plant their herbs right next to it, and warn them for the danger. When rainwater drips off its leaves onto your spinach an you eat that, you are dead. So even herbal meds need to be checked carefully. With internet available you would think every one does the research, but few do. Also, with the world wide open, lots of unknown plants come from everywhere, and that makes things harder to research.

If you have a look at the 'other' ingredients in medicines and supplements (most of the time they aren't listed on the packaging) it's disgusting what they contain. Many of these ingredients are harmful.

I had no idea that some plants contain endotoxins. Do you advise just googling the plant/herb name and 'endotoxins'?

"More than 80 per cent of the adverse events reported were for medicines which also contained echinacea, another herbal ingredient from the daisy family which has been reported to also cause allergic reactions"

https://www.smh.com.au/national/tga-to-review-warnings-after-young-father-s-supplement-death-20240703-p5jqwb.html

This is either bad wording or it has been written this way intentionally, to make people think over 80% of adverse events reported on the TGA site are for medicines containing echinacea.

I am pretty sure Govt plans to make big changes in the regulation of health products/supplements - end result will most likely be access to a much more limited range of health products and the ban of others. Mushroom health products also seem to be getting targeted.

TGA is 96% funded by Big Pharma and likes to divert attention from its complete failure to protect consumers from harm. I expect at least one Senator will be asking more about Endotoxin testing in the TGA labs. Tobacco is a major source of Endotoxin, leading to it being banned even in some outdoor dining venues.
