Vale Michael Leunig Cartoon Genius

I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but some of my friends did.

Of all his contributions, this is one I will always recall.

In 1999 he was declared a national living treasure by the National Trust.

In September 2024, he was dismissed from The Age, 55 years after he penned his first cartoon for the paper.

Michael Leunig died 19 December 2024 aged 79.¹
