12 January 2024 Deadline Covid-19 Royal Commission Terms of Reference in Australia
Gear up everyone! Please think carefully what you will write and don't circulate pro forma templates. The more original compositions the better!
I was excited to bypass the media blackout on the Covid-19 Royal Commission Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee for Inquiry and found it has a deadline for Public Submissions. It is 12 January 2024.
Here is the announcement:
I have made a number of Parliamentary submissions and attended Public Hearings to extend my written evidence. If you appear, everything you say, and Questions put to you by Committee members, will be recorded.
Please do not circulate your submission before you have heard it has been accepted.
If it is accepted it will be protected by Parliamentary Privilege.
That is very important because your descendants will be able to read it long after you "shuffle off this mortal coil".
Please read the guidelines for submissions very carefully. Submissions are best made online, via a secure gateway. Other methods are made available.
Making a Submission Fine Print
Note in particular this:
If your submission criticises another person (for example, accusing them of lying or corrupt behaviour), the committee will send your comment to the other person so they can reply.
The committee may decide to publish your submission and the other person's response together on the committee website.
I intend to criticise a number of people and organizations, so hope to submit fairly early, but will be careful to stick to facts.
Best of luck.
